So we're big fans of the Dave Matthews Band. We have tickets this summer to 2 shows- last night and tonight at the Staples Center in LA. We got to the show last night, and when the guy sitting next to us showed up, he told us that LeRoi Moore had died. This is pretty shocking. LeRoi was the saxophonist for the band, 46 years old, and had an accident on his ATV earlier this summer. He was recovering alright from that, but died suddenly yesterday (the guy next to us is friends with a driver for the band and had learned that it was a blood clot.). So that was a bummer. The show went on, it was sad.
Anyway, I just thought I'd mention it.

I thought of you when I heard the news today.
I thought of you guys when I heard about it last night. What a sad event.
Thanks. We felt really lucky to have been to both shows. The first night was pretty low, the band wasn't feeling good and the show really reflected it. Not in a disappointing way at all. Everyone was just down and Dave told a lot of stories about LeRoi and they played all his favorite songs. Then last night, they played a few songs he liked, then Dave said "this next one, LeRoi HATED it!" and they all sort of goofed off about it and the energy level went through the roof. Near the end of the show, they were just chaotic. Jesse figures they were all exhausted, they probably didn't get much sleep, and the show was just wild. They were all trying to just celebrate what there was to celebrate. More stories and good times. It was really special to be able to witness all that.
